Frequent questions & answers

Questions? We've got answers.

Here are some questions we often get from clients. If you can't find what you're looking for, feel free to contact us.

Are you aligned with the GDPR?

We love the GDPR and have a broad understanding of what it requires of those working with survey research.

We always make sure we have data processing agreements with both clients and sub-processors, clearly describing how personal data is handled. Here's an up-to-date list of our sub-processors.

The platform is built from the ground up to handle personal data safely in accordance with the GDPR. Personal data is always flagged and kept from unintentional handling or exports. When a study is finished, personal data can be surgically removed without losing the possibility of future analysis.

All logins with access to personal data – administrators, our users and client logins – are protected by two-factor authentication and encrypted data transfers.

All our data is kept within the EU, and the company is fully owned and managed from Sweden.

What should researchers think about regarding surveys and the GDPR?

Here's a GDPR checklist for researchers working with surveys:

  • Don't collect unnecessary personal data.
  • Delete personal data when your study is completed.
  • Clearly inform participants how personal data is handled: who, what, why and for how long.
  • Clearly describe the legal ground for handling personal data (normally consent or legitimate interest).
  • Set up routines for deleting personal data.
  • Keep a register of all the personal data you store.
  • Don't handle sensitive personal data without explicit consent.
  • Make sure you have processing agreements with all clients and sub-processors.
  • Publish documents showing clearly how you are aligned with the GDPR.
How do you handle redundancy and backups?

Our servers are mirrored in real time to two separate data centres, linked at 100,000 Mbit/s. If a server or data centre goes down or needs an update, the other takes over without downtime for our users. The solution is provided by our partner Layer&Mesh and has no single point of failure.

Every project in the platform has at least three recovery points, from the last three days it was saved. If a mistake has been made, a project can be fully restored with the click of a button.

The recovery points are stored in a separate data centre run by a separate provider, which has its own backup system. In the very unlikely case of a full server corruption, the backup provider can take over with all relevant data restored within about 60 minutes.

Are you a research company?

No – researchers are our valued clients. We don't write questions and don't sell analysis. We're a good partner when you know what you want to ask and how to analyse the results.

We help researchers and insight managers automate the path from survey data to reports and insights.

Can I give our clients direct access to data from our research?

Yes. End clients can get a secure, two-factor authenticated login with access to selected parts of a survey project:

  • Survey – see, test and export the survey, and make text changes.
  • Distribution – import and export participants, and send invitations and reminders.
  • Data – export survey data in Excel or SPSS format.
  • Report – view and export aggregated results as dashboards, cross-tabs and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Analysis – make their own analyses and cross-tabs, and export to Excel or PowerPoint.

Like the rest of the platform, client access is built for the GDPR. All personal data in a project is flagged, so clients can get full access to results without access to the personal data.

Letting clients upload participants directly also supports data minimisation: no personal data sent by email or duplicated in external file services, and clients can share only the columns the study actually needs.

Can I create my own surveys in your platform?

Sure! Researchers create hundreds of surveys in the platform every year – from ongoing brand trackers and political surveys to large employee studies where reports are generated and distributed to thousands of managers.

If you only work with surveys occasionally, we suggest letting one of our survey pros handle the hard work for you.
